Richmond, KY(April 23, 2017) After a rainout, Richmond Raceway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are set to begin the 51st season of dirt track racing entertainment at the 3/10 mile semi-banked clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” during the 2017 racing season on Saturday April 29 with all weekly divisions in competition highlighted by Late Models racing for $2,000 to win.   

Richmond Raceway will now kick off the 2017 season with the track’s 51st Annual Season Opener on Saturday April 29.  The event will feature the Late Model division racing for $2,000 to win, while the Open Wheel Modified division will compete for $1,000 to win.  Also in competition at the 2017 season opener at Richmond Raceway will be the track’s KDRA Super Stock division racing for $750 to win and the Stock Four Cylinder division racing for $500 to win.  All divisions will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions.  Richmond Raceway also uses transponder timing/scoring and the rental fee for a transponder is $10.  RACEceivers are also mandatory and must be is use by drivers anytime they are in their cars out on the track.  Also of note, drivers are encouraged to arrive early on Saturday April 29 to complete the necessary first race of the year paperwork and need to be at the track no later than 5:30 p.m. if possible. 

Activities for the Saturday April 29 season opening event at Richmond Raceway will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area gates set to open at 4:30 p.m.  The drivers meeting will take place at 5:45 p.m., with practice/time trial laps set to get underway at 6:15 p.m., while the first green flag to start the racing action will wave at 7:30 p.m.  All times EDT.  Ticket prices for the April 29 season opening event at Richmond Raceway in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, with children ages 12 and under admitted free.  A pit pass will cost $35.
