Richmond, KY(September 25, 2016) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz start the month of October with a special event on Saturday October 1 as the track will present the 2nd Annual Finn Watson Memorial paying $2,000 to win for Sonic Late Models and the Four Cylinder Rumble paying $1,000 to win for Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders.  The Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds and AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks will also be in action in a full racing program at the 3/10 mile semi-banked red clay oval known as “The Beast of the East”.  The Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclone division is now done for the season at the track.
Richmond Raceway will present the 2nd Annual Finn Watson Memorial and Four Cylinder Rumble on Saturday October 1 and will feature the Sonic Late Models in a 30 lap, $2,000 to win feature event along with the Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders in a 25 lap, $1,000 to win feature contest.  Also on the October 1 will be the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win and AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks racing for $750 to win.  For the Saturday October 1 program, all divisions will utilize the practice/time trials combo format to determine heat race starting positions.  RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be used by the driver each time he/she is on the racing surface in their race car.  Also, transponder scoring/timing is used at Richmond Raceway and the rental for a transponder is $10 and can be taken care of at driver registration (the track uses the yellow Westhold transponders).  It is pertinent that all drivers be at the track and signed in by 5:30 p.m. as that is when driver registration closes.
The Finn Watson Memorial pays homage to the memory of the late Campbellsville, KY native who competed at Richmond Raceway off and on over the course of his historic racing career.   Watson is also a former Late Model track champion at the track, along with being a track champion and winner at many tracks in the Central Kentucky area.  The winner of the Finn Watson Memorial will be guaranteed a starting spot in the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge event on October 8.  Michael Chilton won the Butch Shay Memorial at the track in July and has earned a starting position in the “Butterball” and if he were to win the Finn Watson Memorial on October 1, the guaranteed starting spot in the “Butterball” race would go to the second place finisher in the race.  Victor Lee of Danville, KY is the defending winner of the event.
