Lee, Watson, Coffman, Stewart, Stevens, and Crusenberry Armed Forces Night Winners at Richmond Raceway

 

Richmond, KY(May 30, 2015) Richmond Raceway would honor all military personnel with Armed Forces Night on Saturday evening with a full racing program and feature event winners would include Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Models, Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY in Modifieds, Todd Coffman of Parksville, KY in REVELution Race Cars Pro Late Models, Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY in KDRA Super Stocks, Dylan Stevens of Morehead, KY in Four Cylinders, and Scott Crusenberry of Williamsburg, KY in Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

The Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Model main event would see Victor Lee take the race lead, with Johnny Wheeler and John Whitney giving chase.  Lee would pull away to a slight lead, while Wheeler and Whitney settled into a nice battle for second, while Jason Barrett and David Webb tussled for fourth.  Lee would increase his lead even more by lap 10 and would start working traffic one circuit later, while Whitney continued to pressure Wheeler for the runner-up spot.  By lap 20, Lee would own a comfortable lead, while Whitney continued to pressure Wheeler and would take the second spot in traffic on lap 23.  However, Lee would win see the checkered flag first and take his second straight win aboard the Kevin Ison owned Kevin Ison Motorsports/Xtreme Style Signs and Graphics/JAACO Mining Equipment/Campbell’s Heat and Air/Superior Drywall/Hoosier Tire South/Quality Auto/Taylor Plumbing/Studio Ink Tattoos/Wild Cody’s Gun and Pawn/Carrier’s Garage/Henson’s Auto Detail/Absolute Pest Control sponsored #4 REVELution Race Car, Day’s Race Engine powered entry.  Whitney and Wheeler would finish second and third, while Barrett and Webb would complete the top five.  The remainder of the top ten would be 11th starting Steve Cornelius (first time in a car since 2006), Joe Brewer, Chris Ruble, J.L. Muse, and Aaron Hatton.  Eleven entries would see Whitney as top qualifier at 14.695 seconds and heat race victories fell to Lee and Wheeler.

The Modified main event would again see Jeff Watson be the dominant car as Watson would lead all 20 laps on this contest and score his fourth straight win at the track this season behind the wheel of the Shofner Enterprises/Brad Burton Dairy Farms/Commercial Fleet Repair sponsored #11 Tomahawk Race Car, Frank Ofria Race Engines powered mount.  Kevin Harkins would take the second position, while Jimmy Crabtree would complete the podium finishers with a third place effort.  Tenth starting Steven Eversole would finish fourth, while 17th starting Jim Robinson would make a wild, three-wide move off of turn four to claim fourth.  Completing the top ten would be Blake Brown, 12th starting Chase McWhorter, 13th starting Ricky Brandenburg, 18th starting Stevie Tipton, and Jared Reams.  Nineteen entries would see Russ Gabbert as top qualifier at 16.393 seconds, while heat race checkered flags went to Watson and Harkins.

Todd Coffman and Victor Lee would battle in the opening laps of the REVELution Race Cars Pro Late Model main event, with Coffman seizing the lead on lap 3 and holding a fast closing Lee in the final laps to pick up his fifth win of the season at the track in the Sharon Coffman owned Auto Connection/Self Service Storage/Coffman’s Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Heritage Closing/The Muffler Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis sporting a Hendren GM604 Crate engine.  Lee would take runner-up honors, while Chris Johnson, Richard Musick, and Chad Spradlin completed the top five.  Six entries would see Coffman as top qualifier 15.520 and also win the heat.

The KDRA Super Stock main event would see Eddie Stewart score his first ever Richmond Raceway feature win as he would survive a late race caution and hold on to score the victory in the seat of his Matthews Well Service/Stewart Racing Chassis/Wego the Dog sponsored #119 Stewart Racing Chassis/Fraley Race Engines unit.  Bill Robinson would finish second, while Todd Coffman would claim a third place effort, with Glen Hounshell, Jr. nipping his father Glen Hounshell, Sr. for the fourth position.  The rest of the top ten finishers would be Darrell Cain, Terry Cheeks, Rudi Strebeck, Jeremy Howard, and Logan Preston.  Sixteen entries would see Stewart also be the top qualifier at 16.703 seconds and win a heat, while Preston scored the other heat win.

Dylan Stevens would drive to the victory in the 12 lap Four Cylinder main event and pick up his first ever Richmond Raceway feature win behind the wheel of the Eagle Finance/Poppy Mountain/Lee’s Used Cars/NAPA sponsored #7x Ford Mustang unit.  Stacy Harrison would score the runner-up finish, with Jamison Gipson, Keith Gipson, and Brandon Creech completing the top five.  Eight entries would see Harrison win the heat.

Scott Crusenberry would battle Jason Bell throughout the Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclone feature contest, with Crusenberry taking the lead for good with two laps remaining and driving to victory in his Crusenberry Motorsports/Don Franklin Family of Dealerships/Tri County Wood sponsored #8 entry.  Bell would finish second, while his fourteen year old daughter Shalie Bell would make her racing debut and finish third.  Crusenberry would also win the heat among the three entries.
