Richmond, KY (March 25, 2015) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz have cancelled the first of two test and tune open practice events scheduled for the 3/10 mile semi-banked Madison County facility known as “The Beast of the East” that was scheduled for this Saturday March 28.

“With the predicted unseasonable cool temperatures and with some still on-going projects yet complete around the track, we have decided to cancel the first scheduled practice”, stated Richmond Raceway co-promoter Chad Yantz.  “All the snow that we had in our area in late February and early March, along with the extremely wet weather we have experienced, put us behind on some projects that we wanted to get done and we are still working feverishly to get some things done, so we felt it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel the first practice”, added Yantz.

Also, the track will be receiving a fresh layer of red clay, but that project has been delayed until the track if off for a couple of weeks in early May.  The old dirt that had been on the track has been graded off and the first few events will take place on the existing dirt that is on the track after the old dirt was removed.  Again, the track will be receiving a new racing surface, but it will happen in early May when weather condition will hopefully be much better.

The second scheduled test and tune open practice event at Richmond Raceway is still scheduled to take place on Saturday April 4.  Practice times will be from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., with racers in all divisions invited to attend.  The general admission area will be FREE to those wanting to watch practice, while a pit pass will be $15.

The track will officially begin its 2015 season of dirt track racing with the “Dawn of New Era” season opener event on Saturday April 11 that will feature Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Late Models, KDRA Super Stocks (formerly Sportsman), Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones all in competition.
