                   Track Champions Names at Richmond Raceway for  2014 
                  The following drivers were track champions in their respective divisions  at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY for the 2014 racing season.  In Super Late Models, it would be Victor Lee  of Danville, KY taking top honors, while Jim Robinson of Richmond, KY would be  the top point getter in the Modified division.   Pro Late Models returned to the track in 2014 and Todd Coffman of  Junction City, KY would be on top of the final points, with Glen Hounshell, Jr.  of Mount Vernon, KY claiming the track title in the Sportsman division.  
                  “The Dawn of a New Era” Will Be the Theme at  Richmond Raceway for 2015! 
                  Richmond Raceway will begin its 50th season of dirt track  racing in 2015 and will usher it in with the motto of “The Dawn of a New Era”  as the track will see new promoters beginning with the 2015 race season in the  form of the promotional trio of Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz.  The Yantz family sat out the 2014 season  after having formerly been promoters at Ponderosa Speedway, with Larry also  been served in the past as the director of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar  Series and Chad having held the position of race director at one time for the  Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series.  The new promotional trio has a plan in place  and have already refurbished many of the buildings at the track, the racing  surface has also been widened, and a new catchfence and poles are nearing  completion on the backstretch of the track, with other improvements and changes  in the plans as well. 
                  Test and Tune Practice Dates and Season Opening  Dates Announced! 
                  Richmond Raceway plans a pair of test and tune open practice dates at  the 3/10 mile track.  The first practice  day will be on Saturday March 28 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with the  second “play day” practice session set for Saturday April 4 from 6:00 p.m. and  will conclude at 10:00 p.m.  The “Dawn of  a New Era” will take place the following weekend on Saturday April 11 and will  feature Super Late Models, Modifieds, Pro Late Models, KDRA Super Stocks  (formerly known as Sportsman), and Stock Four Cylinders all in action, with the  2015 track championship points chase also beginning that evening.
 
                  Several Special Events Highlight the 2015  Richmond Raceway Event Schedule! 
                  The 2015 racing schedule at Richmond Raceway will offer several special  events, with each division taking centerstage on various nights of the 2015  calendar of racing.  The first special  event will be a special Friday April 17 event that has been tabbed as the  Richmond Rumble as will pay Super Late Models $2,000 to win and Modifieds will  race for $1,000 to win.  The following  evening on Saturday April 18, the Spring Shootout will take place, paying  $5,000 to win for Super Late Models and $1,000 to win for KDRA Super  Stocks.  The Saturday Night Showdown will  take place on Saturday May 16 and will see the KDRA Super Stocks race for  $1,000 to win and Four Cylinders race for $500 to win.  The inaugural Finn Watson Memorial will take  place on Saturday May 23, paying $2,000 to win for Super Late Models and $800  to win for Pro Late Models.  The month of  June will see Modifieds race for $1,000 to win at Modified Mayhem on Saturday  June 13, while the Four Cylinder Fury event will take place on Saturday June  27, paying $1,000 to win.  The month of  July will be HUGE at the track as the Pro Late Models will race for $1,500 to  win in the Firecracker 40 on America’s 239th birthday on Saturday  July 4, while the “Butterball” Tune-Up event is set for Saturday July 11, with  Super Late Models racing for $2,000 to win.   The weekend of Friday and Saturday July 17 and 18 will see the track’s  marquee event as the 28th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball”  Wooldridge sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series takes place, with  an open practice and cookout on July 17, with racing on July 18 being  highlighted with Super Late Models racing for $10,028 to win, along with  Modifieds paying $1,000 to win and KDRA Super Stocks paying $800 to win.  There will also be a program of special  “Butterball” qualifier events leading up to the race, with more details to be  announced about those.    The inaugural Butch Shay Memorial will be  held on Saturday August 15, with both the Super Late Model and Modified  divisions racing for $2,000 to win that evening.  The track will also be a part of the Southern  Nationals Bonus Series sanctioned Revelution Race Cars Iron Man Speedweek 2015,  with Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win and Modifieds racing for $1,000  to win on Saturday September 5.  The KDRA  Super Stock Nationals will take place on Saturday September 19 and will see the  KDRA Super Stocks race for $2,000 to win and Pro Late Models race for $1,000 to  win.  The season will conclude on  Saturday October 3 as the track will present the inaugural Beast of the East  Clash that will see Super Late Models race for $5,000 to win, with Modifieds  racing for $2,000 to win, and Four Cylinders racing for $500 to win.  Other events are also in discussion at this  point and may be added to the schedule as well.
