Richmond Raceway Off August 22; Saturday Night Showdown Set for August 29

 

Richmond, KY(August 16, 2015) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will have Richmond Raceway idle this Saturday August 22, but will return with racing competition on Saturday August 29 as the track will present the Saturday Night Showdown at the 3/10 mile red clay oval known as “The Beast of the East”. 

Of note, starting on Saturday August 29, drivers registration will close promptly at 5:45 p.m. to get everything set for the drivers meeting at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin immediately following the drivers meeting.  The track encourages drivers to show up early to help in getting the show started in a prompt and timely manner.

The Saturday Night Showdown event will feature the American Dirt Allstars KDRA Super Stocks in action for $1,000 to win and the Four Cylinder division will race for $500 to win, plus all other divisions will be in competition as well.  This event was originally scheduled for May 16, but was postponed due to inclement weather conditions.

Richmond Raceway will present the Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday August 29 as the American Dirt Allstars KDRA Super Stocks will be racing for $1,000 to win and Four Cylinders will be racing for $500 to win.  Joining these two divisions at the Saturday Night Showdown event will be the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Models racing for $1,200 to win and Modifieds racing for $800 to win.  Rounding out the racing card on Saturday August 29 will be the REVELution Race Cars Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win and the Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win.  For the Saturday Night Showdown event, the practice/time trials combo format will be used to determine heat race starting positions.  RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and must be used by the driver everytime he/she is on the racing surface in their race car and transponder scoring is also used by the track.  It is pertinent that all drivers be at the track and signed in by 6:00 p.m.

Activities for the Saturday Night Showdown at Richmond Raceway on Saturday August 29 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:30 p.m.  Driver’s registration will close promptly at 5:45 p.m.  The drivers meeting will be at 6:00 p.m, with practice/time trial combo laps set to begin around 6:20 p.m., and the green flag for the first race will wave at 7:30 p.m.  Ticket prices for the Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday August 29 in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE.  For the pit area, adult prices will be $35, with children ages 6 to 12 costing $15, and children ages five and under FREE.  If a driver races in more than one division, that driver has to buy a second pit pass.  Also, any driver under the age of 18 will have to have a notorized release signed by both parents before that driver is eligible to compete at Richmond Raceway, due to insurance regulations.
