Richmond, KY(May 3, 2015) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will have Richmond Raceway closed on Saturday May 9, but racing return to the 3/10 mile clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” with the Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday May 16

With the track not being open for racing May 9, race fans and race teams will be greeted to a new look at the track upon returning on May 16.  With the cooperation of Mother Nature, when racing resumes on Saturday May 16, there will be an entirely new racing surface at Richmond Raceway, consisting of red clay.   

Richmond Raceway’s next racing action will be on Saturday May 16 and will be the Saturday Night Showdown, featuring the American Dirt Allstars KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,000 to win and Four Cylinders racing for $500 to win.  Also in action at the Saturday Night Showdown on May 16 will be the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Models racing for $1,200 to win and Modifieds racing for $800 to win.  The REVELution Pro Late Models will also be in action on Saturday May 16 and will race for $600 to win, while the Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup Cyclone division will be in action for $100.   

Activities for the Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday May 16 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m.  The drivers meeting will be at 6:15 p.m, with practice/time trial combo laps set to begin around 6:30 p.m., and the green flag for the first race will wave at 7:30 p.m.  Ticket prices for the Saturday Night Showdown will be announced in an upcoming release.
