Victor Lee Sweeps Century 21 Advantage Realty Butch Shay Memorial Wins at Richmond Raceway

 

Richmond, KY(August 15, 2015) Richmond Raceway would return to action on Saturday evening with the inaugural Century 21 Advantage Realty Butch Shay Memorial and Victor Lee of Danville, KY would pick up a pair of $2,100 paydays and he would sweep both the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Model and Modified main events.  Other feature event winners included Todd Coffman of Parksville, KY in REVELution Race Cars Pro Late Models, Jeremie Bretz of Maysville, KY in KDRA Super Stocks, Logan Burke in Four Cylindes, and Cole Bland of Campbellsville, KY in Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

In the Barry Turner of Century 21 Advantage Realty Super Late Model Butch Shay Memorial event, Victor Lee would take the lead on the second start after the first attempted start was brought back after a three car tangle in turn two.  Lee would pull away from second place Derek Fisher, while David Webb, Tommy Bailey, and Michael Chilton tussled for third.  Fisher would close back in on Lee in traffic, but the caution would fly again on lap 17 when fourth running Webb would spin his mount in turn one.  The restart would only see more lap completed when Buzz Williams would tangle with Dennis Barton exiting turn two, ending both drivers night.  The final few circuits would see Lee drive away to the win in his debut in the Kerry and Michelle Trowbridge owned Automotive Specialities/Tri-County Auto and Oil/Brunner and Son Lawn Maintenance/Dexter’s Gun and Ammo/Hoosier Tire South/Renegade Race Fuels sponsored #16 Victory Circle by Moyer Race Car sporting power from a Clements Race Engine.  Fisher would score his third second place finish of the season at Richmond, while Bailey, Chilton, and Jason Barrett completed the top five.  The remainder of the top ten would be Steve Stollings, Jerry Rutherford, Steve Elliott, Rod Carter, Jr., and Webb.  Eighteen entries would see Chilton as top qualifier at 14.322 seconds, while heat wins went to Fisher and Lee.

The Modified main event would see Victor Lee lead wire-to-wire in that contest as well and score the Butch Shay Memorial win for the Modified division aboard the Kerry and Michelle Trowbridge owned Automotive Specialities/Tri-County Auto and Oil/Brunner and Son Lawn Maintenance/Dexter’s Gun and Ammo sponsored #6 Diamond Race Car, Pro Power Race Engines powered mount.  Dennis Roberson would charge the high side of the racing surface, only to have to settle for runner-up honors, while Blake Brown would finish in third position.  Jimmy Robinson and Delane Browning would finish fourth and fifth respectively.  The rest of the top ten finishers would be Kevin Harkins, Jared Reams, Mike Pratt, 19th starting Jimmy Crabtree, and Jeff Watson, who recovered from an flat tire in the early going of the event.  Twenty-seven entries would see Trent Young establish a new track record for the division at 15.591 seconds, with Lee, Browning, and Brown picking up the heat race wins, while Crabtree would win the B-Main.

The REVELution Race Cars Pro Late Model feature event would see Todd Coffman return to his winning ways as he would outdistance the field to score the victory aboard the Sharon Coffman owned Self Service Storage/Auto Connection/Coffman Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Heritage Closing/The Muffler Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis, Hendren GM604 powered entry.  Chris Johnson would hold of the repeated challenges of Zane Powell for the second positon, while Jeff Alsip and Wesley Ball completed the top five.  Rounding out the top ten would be Steven Eversole, Chad Spradlin, David Freeman, Tony Roland, and Clayton Spradlin.  Twelve entries would see Freeman as top qualifier at 15.232 seconds, with heat wins going to Johnson and Coffman.

The KDRA Super Stock main event would be a heated affair throughout, with Jeremie Bretz breaking away from the field to score his first win of the season at Richmond Raceway in the Swartz Racing owned Swartz Enterprises/Swartz Mowing/Custom Race Suspensions sponsored #3x machine.  Allen Hackworth, Jr. and Robby Perkins would claim the second and third positions at the drop of the checkered flag, with Faron Robinson and Travis Preston rounding out the top five.  Completing the top ten finishers would be Darrell Cain, Glen Hounshell, Jr., Randy Frasure, Ricky Brandenburg, and James Crowe.  Twenty-one entries would see Bretz also be the top qualifier at 16.722 seconds and win a heat, while Perkins scored the other heat win.

The Four Cylinder feature would see Logan Burke pull away for the race lead near the mid-point of the main event and drive on to his first win of the season at Richmond Raceway aboard the Burke’s Wrecker Service sponsored #z28 machine.  Sean Jones would take runner-up honors, while Tyler Hayes would finish third, with McCarty and Eric Masters rounding out the top five finishers.  The rest of the top ten at the finish would be Larry Whisman, Greg Hensley, Brandon Creech, Eddie Caudill, and Justin Masters.  Twenty-three entries would see heat race wins fall to Hensley and Burke.

Cole Bland would score his second consecutive Warlock Race Cars Mini-Cup/Cyclone division feature win aboard his Wilson Plumbing/Kent Bland Logging/Nolley Auto Sales/Win Smith Racing Enterprises sponsored #0 machine, with Scott Crusenberry, Josh Dickerson, and Jason Bell giving chase at the finish.  Bland would also win the heat for the division.
