Richmond Raceway Announces Details About Super Late Model “Butterball” Dash Qualifiers

Richmond, KY (April 06, 2015) Richmond Raceway co-promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are excited to announce a unique program that should help provide some incentive to drivers in the Super Late Model division to want to be in action every chance they have at the 3/10 mile clay oval known as “The Beast of the East”.

The “Butterball” Dash Qualifiers are events that will lead up to the “Butterball” Tune-Up event on Saturday July 11 and will culminate at the 28th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event on Saturday July 18 that will pay $10,028 to win and be sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs.

The following are dates for the “Butterball” Dash Qualifier events: April 11, April 17, April 18, April 25, May 2, May 16, May 23, May 30, June 13, June 27, and July 4. The Super Late Model feature event winner on these dates will automatically be entered into the “Butterball” Dash event at the 28th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial on Saturday July 18. If a driver(s) that is a previous feature winner at the track in 2015 on these dates and has not raced his/her way into the “Butterball” A-Main on July 18 via a heat race or B-Main, those drivers will then be entered into the “Butterball” Dash, along with drivers in the top ten in track points that have not made their way into the “Butterball” starting field. The maximum number of drivers in the starting field for the dash could be eleven (11) based on the number of feature events scheduled to be “Butterball” Dash Qualifiers, but if there are repeat winners and previous winners have already made the A-Main that evening, then the number of entries will be adjusted. If there are less than eleven drivers that make up this event, then the track will go to its current 2015 Super Late Model track points and starting adding drivers to the “Butterball” Dash line-up, with this being limited to drivers that are currently in the top ten in Richmond Raceway track points leading up to the event.

One driver will automatically receive a starting position in the 28th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge event on Saturday July 18, as the winner of the $2,000 to win “Butterball” Tune-Up event for Super Late Models on Saturday July 11 will automatically receive a starting position in the event on Saturday July 18. If that driver makes it in the race through a heat or B-Main, then the automatic starting spot would revert back to the 2015 track point standings, with the highest driver in track points coming into the “Butterball” event not already in the A-Main on Saturday July 18 receiving that provisional.

“We wanted to try to do something unique to entice Super Late Model racers to compete at Richmond Raceway as much as possible in 2015”, stated track co-promoter Chad Yantz. “Dad (Larry Yantz) came up with the idea back in the fall after we acquired the track and we have looked at different ideas and feel like we have got a fair way to run this deal”, added Chad Yantz. “The winner of the Butterball Tune-Up on July 11 and the winner of the Butterball Dash Qualifier on July 18 will be the way that drivers can earn the track provisional starting spots (starting positions 23 and 24) for the Butterball race on July 18, so it will be important for racers to compete at Richmond Raceway as much as they can prior to the Butterball race, as it not only could give drivers an extra chance to make the race, but also get them extra track time prior to the Butterball race on July 18”, stated Yantz.

Richmond Raceway will present the 28th Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial on Saturday July 18. The Super Late Model portion of the event will be sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series and will pay $10,028 to win and $500 to start. Also in competition at the “Butterball” on Saturday July 18 will be a full program of action for Modifieds and KDRA Super Stocks, with Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win and KDRA Super Stocks racing for $800 to win. Additionally, the Mini-Cup/Cyclone division will run a special feature event to kick off the start of the “Butterball” night of action on July 18.
